I’m guessing this probably should have been my first post, to elaborate more on why I’m blogging, specifically about property management, however, it was not, so I’ll do that in this second post.
I’m not attempting to put myself out there for knowledge or recognition. It’s as simple as I have always wanted to write and blogging is one of the easiest avenues to do that. I found myself daily writing posts on Facebook, that were long and drawn out and maybe did not fully capture what I was really trying to say. I only follow one blog and it has absolutely nothing to do with property management. A friend of mine, BA, has a blog called Heir to Blair, I follow it religiously and have for about two years now. In light of my continual posts on Facebook and an update in my inbox yesterday evening about her blog, I decided, why the heck not? I’m basically already doing it as it is.
So began my research on blogging. It was not too difficult to find the footing to begin doing this. The first step I found in all tutorials on blogging? Write about something you’re passionate about. Something you know about. I’ll be honest. The first thing that came to mind is what I do for a living. I’m one of the fortunate ones that have found what I absolutely love to do for a living and I make money at it. How great is that? (It’s pretty awesome, FYI, but I’ll avoid gloating). Is it hard sometimes? Sure. But at the end of the day, life and everything in it was not made to be easy.
But I digress…..again, the first thing that came to mind was property management because I truly love what I do and am passionate about it. Am I knowledgeable? Yes. I don’t claim to know everything but I do claim to be confident in my ability to do a great job and to have the ability to ask questions when I don’t know. I’m always on a quest for learning new things, hearing new information and being able to put all of it to use.
Where did the word pithy come from? (No worries, I am not going to elaborate on it’s origins as a word, simply why I chose that word). I wanted to really have a catchy name for my blog but also something that captures my personality as well. Pithy was perfect. Not only does it provide the catchy title I was looking for but it also captures who I am as an individual. I assure you, I am extremely pithy. You’ll pick up on it as you continue to read more of my blogs.
The entire site is still under construction. It’s not perfect, I am still learning. So bear with me, and feel free to offer advice or even comment on my blogs. Good or bad. I am looking forward to feedback. Again, I’m not doing this for any other reason or to put myself out there like I’m any more knowledgeable than the next property manager sitting behind their desk pulling their hair out one minute and skipping the next – I’m simply going after a passion for writing put together with a passion for property management.
I look forward to seeing you all here, whether you’re in the business or not. I assure you, if nothing else, from time to time, you will get a good laugh, a piece of valuable information and maybe even some words of wisdom.
