INVIGORATION!

I have a confession to make….

I have not shown an apartment since September of last year. I left my last property in complete and utter contempt of property management. I needed a breather after that property, to say the least. And I got it, for a lot longer than I wanted based on hiring in this immediate area.

I took a break for a bit, then during my “growth/awakening” process last year, actually took a job at Ruby Tuesdays. (Look, I was trying this whole self awareness thing and humbling myself….and I had never worked in the restaurant industry, ever. So I needed that kick off the high horse.) Anyhow, needless to say, that lasted three weeks. While very enlightening, I became fully aware that I was okay with not enduring that sort of laborious work. Ever again.

Then I was contacted about this property. But guess what???? Months until it opened….which turned into me working as a front desk agent at a casino/hotel. If you want to talk about eye opening, do that for three months like I did.

But you know what? All of the above, the break, Ruby Tuesdays and the casino were all part of making me more appreciative for what I have done for 11 years, and I believe made me better at it. How? Because I can actually relate now. Instead of pretending to.

Anyhow, the point of this post is to tell you how invigorating our jobs are!!!!!! I showed an apartment today (four to be exact, one of them twice), for the first time in EIGHT MONTHS! All to the same prospect.

And like on any new property, you’re already apprehensive about knowing your product, but add to it that this is an entirely different product than anything I’ve ever leased (different building types and apartment types of 12 different unit mixes), and that I haven’t shown an apartment in EIGHT MONTHS!

Okay, you get the point, now let me get to the point…..

I am damn good at my job. Not in an annoying narcissistic kind of way, but in a damn proud of myself for all the odds against me today for the amazing job I did in that leasing presentation.

And that, my friends, is not only a motivating factor, but, the reason that I do this, day in and day out. Because it is so invigorating! I seriously LOVE LEASING APARTMENTS!
